Playa del Carmen destination wedding: kim and franky part 2

it's been 6 weeks since i had my toes in the sands of playa del carmen, and i'm already dreaming of my next trip (a cruise to the mexican riviera in june!) so until then, i thought it was time to share part 2 of franky and kim's destination wedding. 

they were awesome enough to also want to do a "trash the dress" session the day after the wedding. it's a newer trend that can scare some people (the dress! the memories! the dry cleaning bill!), while others take it as an artistic way to have a little more fun in the outfits, with the stress of the wedding behind you. 

being in the land of ancient ruins and beautiful beaches, we took a little hike and captured the essence of the area. 

and a huge congrats out to the newlyweds, they will also be welcoming a little bundle of love this fall! 

healdsburg, ca engagement photography: a surprise engagement

when devin emailed me last month seeing if i would be available to travel up to healdsburg because he was going to propose to his girlfriend, i nearly jumped out of my chair in excitement! 

not only is healdsburg part of napa valley, but kristin and devin have been friends of ours for a few years now, and i was honored he asked me to document such an important part in their relationship!

it took a little rearranging and bribery of family members to watch the boys for the night, but we pulled it off! i even got the hubs to second shoot for me (that's huge! he refuses to touch my cameras normally!), so to make sure we could catch her excitement! 

devin arranged to have a group of family and friends gathered together in the middle of the town square,  

it was great to see the love and support they have of friends and family. They had people flying in from all corners of the country, just to be part of the excitement!

long beach, ca maternity photography: no sleep till..

any beastie boys fans will know how to finish that sentence, and every time i think of chris and amber's baby girl coming in just about 7 weeks, the song pops into my head. not just because i remember the sleepless nights during those last few, long weeks before delivery: how the anticipation, the growing belly, and the baby moving all night long would keep me awake, but also because their daughter's name will be Brooklyn! i love her name, and am anticipating finally meeting her as well! 

we found this hidden little field of dried out sticks. there was something gorgeous about this mama to be, about to bring a new life into the world, sitting in the middle of a dry and dormant field.
